The Cubs are a bit banged up, and they'll have to deal with it now without much in the way of minor league help.Sept. 1 came and went without the Cubs making any minor league call-ups, even though rosters may expand beyond 25.The only certainty is that the Cubs will bring up catcher Welington Castillo for Friday's series opener against the Mets. Castillo has been in town this week because of catcher Geovany Soto is hobbled with a sore knee.In addition to that, center fielder Marlon Byrd has soreness in his right leg. Thomas Diamond received a game ball and a beer shower after his first major league win. Diamond relieved injured starter Tom Gorzelanny and was part of a strong effort by the Chicago Cubs' bullpen Wednesday in a 5-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pittsburgh Pirates have struggled almost everywhere this season -- except Wrigley Field. Neil Walker and Garrett Jones each hit a long two-run homer, and Pittsburgh beat the Chicago Cubs 14-7 on Tuesday night for a rare road victory. Carlos Zambrano and the of the Cubs' offense made Mike Quade's managerial debut at Wrigley Field relatively easy. Carlos Zambrano allowed one unearned run in 5 1-3 innings and hit a two-run homer to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 14-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night. Aramis Ramirez was 2 for 3 with four RBIs to help Quade win his first game at Wrigley Field as manager.
